OUR STORY

It starts with big ideas. Kids, well they’re big idea machines. Just add some knowledge about to structure these ideas, and we’re building the next generation of change makers.

Big Idea Machines came to be as our founder, Rachel Trobman, spoke with her daughter’s fourth grade class about her journey starting businessses. The students were enthralled and eager to share ideas of their own. The ideas were fabulous and, as the students began developing these ideas into businesses, Rachel saw their excitement build and confidence grow. She also noticed the magic that happened through collaboration, teamwork and problem solving. And through their continued interest in furthering their business concepts, Big Idea Machines was born.

Rachel believes that building businesses is about so much more than just science and math. It’s also about storytelling and strategy. It’s about both dreaming and doing. It’s about creativity and curiousity. It’s about determination and grit. And, of course, it’s about business models. Our hope is through Big Idea Machines elementary and middle school students can try on the role of entrepreneur and see how rewarding it can be.
